A Marksman is a "skilled and accurate shooter". While an estimated 85% of men aim at the wrong target in life, joining a Marksman Bootcamp or Adventure will train, equip and inspire you to aim for the life God intended.
Marksman Bootcamps consist of six 2-hour training rounds spread over the course of six weeks. Training sessions are available in-person at Hills Church in Farmington, NM, and around the world online. Attending a Marksman Bootcamp is a prerequisite before attending Marksman Zion.
Marksman Trips encourage men to get into the great outdoors enjoying both God's creation and God's Word in unforgettable, life-changing experiences. Marksman Zion is the flagship Marksman Trip that unlocks all other Marksman trips, which include Havasu Falls, Keyhole, and Yosemite.

August 14 - September 18, 2025
Overview: The Marksman Bootcamp is for men who want to get personally trained and equipped by Matt Mizell on how to aim for the life God designed you to live. Each bootcamp consists of a small group of men who will go on a journey together as they unpack God's purpose in their lives. Unlike Marksman Zion trips, no physical labor is involved for Marksman Bootcamps. A registration fee of $20 covers your Marksman workbook. This group is for men only (18 and older) and capacity is limited. Please do not register someone else; only register yourself. Each bootcamp runs for 6 weeks, one night a week, for 2 hours each session. Attendance is crucial for all 6 weeks. If you cannot commit to all 6 weeks, please leave the space for someone else. The location for the bootcamp will be confirmed with those who register. Those who join the waitlist will be given first priority for the next bootcamp once dates are released. Participants may join in-person or online.
September 25-28, 2025
The Zion Marksman Adventure is a 4-day journey to Zion National Park in Southern Utah from September 25-28, 2025.
Should you choose to join this incredible journey, you will explore some of the most beautiful terrain, mountains, and rivers you have ever seen, you will hike some unforgettable trails (such as Angels Landing and the Narrows, both of which are in the Top 10 hikes in the world), and you will also have the opportunity to get to know God better as you gain better clarity for His purpose and calling on your life. As if that weren't enough already, you'll also get to know other like-minded men who could very well become some of your lifelong friends.
Hikes in Zion National Park have varying degrees of difficulty. The Zion Marksman trip allows men to choose their level of hiking difficulty based on personal health and/or physical limitations. Hiking distances for the 4-day trip range anywhere from 1-20 miles, depending on how far each participant chooses to push themselves. All participants should not only be open to an incredible experience, but also be open to whatever God may have in store for them on the journey.
Participants may carpool from Farmington, NM, (or plan on arriving to Zion National Park by 5:00p MST on Thursday, September 25, 2025, if coming from other cities/states). The Zion Marksman trip ends in Zion at 11:30a on Sunday, September 28. Make travel plans accordingly. Space is limited and based on first-come, first-serve.
Completing a Marksman Bootcamp is a prerequisite for joining any Zion Marksman trips. You may, however, register for both a Marksman Bootcamp as well as a Zion Marksman trip at the same time as long as you complete the Marksman Bootcamp prior to your departure date for Zion.
Fitness, Health & Safety Advisory: Hikes through Zion are both dangerous and strenuous. Participants will need to do their best to get in as good of shape as they can prior to the trip start date. While participants can go as short or as long as they desire for each hike, you will maximize your overall experience by getting into as good of shape as you possibly can. If you want to experience the full version of each hike offered, we suggest you go on at least 4 hikes/walks/runs of at least 6 miles or more prior to the departure date. An optional 12-week training regimen will be provided to you prior to the trip start date to help you get physically prepared while other men do the same. Know your physical limits and only attempt hikes you are capable of accomplishing. All hikes are "out and back" hikes, meaning that if you begin to get physically exhausted at any time on the hike, you can turn back around at any point. All Zion trips are subject to change based on National Park closures, weather and/or other health restrictions. Safety is a top priority, and weather conditions may result in the cancellation or adjustments to the trip schedule if certain hikes are not available during the scheduled dates for this trip.
Refund/Cancelation Policy: If the trip is canceled by Hills Church and/or Zion National Park for whatever reason, a full refund will be given or payments may be applied to a future trip. If any participant cannot attend the trip for whatever reason, a refund (less the deposit) will be given or payments may be applied to a future trip.
SWAT Teams: Each trip to Zion includes various leadership opportunities for men who have completed at least one Marksman Bootcamp AND have attended at least one Zion trip in the past. If you have met both requirements and are interested in a leadership opportunity on a Zion trip, you may apply to join SWAT here. SWAT Team members assist with driving, preparation, logistics, drop-offs, cooking, photography, videography and more. In addition, SWAT Team members act as a liaison to NPS Search & Rescue in the case of an emergency. While some hikes in Zion may still be possible for all SWAT Team members, due to the unique requirements of this position, some SWAT Team members will be unable to participate in the full Angel's Landing and/or Narrows hikes. SWAT training will take place for all leaders prior to the Zion trip.
