LWF GUESTS

INTERVIEW CONFIRMATION:
Once you are confirmed as a guest to be featured on the Leader Worth Following radio show, you will receive confirmation for a date and time of your interview.

WHO IS MATT MIZELL?
Matt is the Lead Pastor of a Christian church in Farmington, New Mexico, called Piñon Hills Community Church. Matt is also the host of a local radio show titled Leader Worth Following. You can read more about Vertical Radio at verticalradio.org. You can read more about Matt and his show at leaderworthfollowing.com.

WHAT IS LEADER WORTH FOLLOWING?
While “leadership” is one of the most-searched keywords on Google, unfortunately many Christian leaders simply don’t lead well. We aren’t just called to lead people… we are called to lead people well. LWF is a radio show that reverse-engineers Christlike leadership to help listeners learn how to be better leaders who are worth following. You can read more about LWF at leaderworthfollowing.com.

WHAT IS KNMI?
KNMI (Vertical Radio 88.9) is a non-profit Christian radio station broadcast throughout the Four Corners area with a reach inclusive of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado on 3 translators.

INTERVIEW TIMING
Interviews can be conducted Monday-Thursday between 8:30a and 4:00p MST based on availability. Interviews are all pre-recorded and will be broadcast typically anywhere from 4-12 weeks after the recording date. Typical recording time is about 30-60 minutes, so please plan for at least one hour for the full interview. Meetings may be scheduled at mattmizell.com/meeting.

RECORDING TECH
Interviews are conducted via Zencastr and/or Clean Feed. Interviewees will be sent a unique URL prior to the interview. No special microphones are necessary, but if you happen to have one that’s a plus. For best results, please plan on wearing headphones during the interview to eliminate feedback. Please make sure prior to your scheduled interview time that your mic is working. No software downloads are required. If you do not receive a link at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled interview time, call Matt at (505) 720-6453 at the time of your interview.

INTERVIEW STRUCTURE
The broadcast interview will be 30 minutes broken into four main segments. Each segment has a subtheme:

1) SEGMENT 1 (Your history, background & general thoughts on you believe leadership is important;
7 minutes)

2) SEGMENT 2 (Your thoughts on the cost of poor leadership; 7 minutes)

3) SEGMENT 3 (Your thoughts on how to become a Leader Worth Following; your "secrets to successful leadership"; 7 minutes)

4) SEGMENT 4 (Rapid-fire questions for listeners to get to know you better as a relatable person; this section is to let people know you're just another human and that steps that have worked for you can work for them as well; this will also be where you can self-promote your own book, podcast, etc; 5 min)

If the interview or sections go longer, the producer may edit the show down to make sure if fits within the allotted time for the show.

COMPENSATION
Interviewees who come onto the show are not compensated for their interviews. Interviewees will have a chance to promote their products, books, podcasts, websites, social media, etc. However, the FCC is very specific about how non-profit radio stations cannot create a “call to action”. A “call to action” is anything that invites people to take action related to products or services. Passive statements are allowed if they do not contain a “call to action.” For example:

Allowed: “More information about my book is available at interviewsite.com.”

Not Allowed: “Buy my book at interviewsite.com.”

AIR DATE
You should have an idea of when your interview will air at the time of your interview. That date will be shared so you can help promote the live episode if you wish.

CROSS-PROMOTION
Your interview may be cross-promoted on:
1) Matt’s personal social media platforms,
2) Piñon Hills Community Church’s social media platforms,
3) Vertical Radio
4) Amazon Alexa
5) Other platforms

INTERVIEWEE MEDIA
Please fill out a questionnaire here prior to your interview to give Matt more of an understanding of your background. Your questionnaire should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. In addition, we would need a headshot or photo from you for promotions.

NEXT STEPS
1) Choose an interview date and time based on availability. Keep in mind all scheduled times are MST.
2) Complete the interview questionnaire. It will be emailed to you once you have a confirmed date and time for your interview.
3) Ensure that your microphone works on your device prior to your interview date.
4) Click your unique link emailed to you or manually type it into your desktop browser.
There’s no need to connect earlier than your scheduled time. Matt will chat with you for a few minutes “off the air” prior to starting your broadcast interview.
5) For questions, contact matt @ mattmizell.com.

One of my favorite authors, CS Lewis, once said:

Maybe you’ve never produced music or baptized anyone, but I think we can still be friends since I'm pretty sure you and I still have something in common: YOU'RE SCREWED UP!

I know I just insulted you/us, but keep reading!

Truth be told, some of my greatest life stories capture "Heck yeah!" successes, but most of my experiences include “What did I just do?!” failures. It makes sense though. Somewhere along the way I bought into the idea that failure doesn’t have to be permanent.  Failure is merely a learning opportunity and brings you one step closer to getting it right. It is for this reason that failure has led me to some of my sweetest victories.

“Friendship is born at the moment when one man says to another 'What! You too?'”

If you look close enough, every story from the past provides a learning opportunity for the future. My life mission statement is this:

There's a lot of leaders out there, but I've discovered that about 90% of them aren't worth following. Become a leader worth following. You may figure out how based on trial and error… OR you can learn from the past experiences of others so you can leapfrog over their failures and gain insight from their wins.

Let's play leapfrog.

It's not that I believe I have mastered any of my passions, but I have found a leader worth following: Jesus. I invite you to join my journey as I continue to explore and apply what I have learned from the greatest leader of all time. Simple and small action steps will not only help you become a leader worth following, but a leader who IS followed. Let's do this.

“To inspire and equip others to become leaders who are worth following.”

My hope is that you can take simple and small action steps based on each blog post that will help you become a better leader. You’ll be amazed at how far you can go by taking one small step at at time.
